This Kenai Fjords National Park Historic Resource Study investigates the history and development of culture and life in the Kenai Fjords National Park area over a significant time period. The book explores the geographic history of the region, the Chugach and the Unegkurmiut cultures (including village life, warfare, and trade), the Russian settlement and colonization, regional trade patterns, the expanding fishing and fur commerical industries in the region, developing transportation infrastructure (including railroad and roads), traditional activities pertaining to the land and sea, the gold rush, military activities, comemricial fishing, and the expansion of recreation and tourism in the region.
