A history of the Prince William Sound from 1741 onwards, focusing on Russian and American colonization of the region. The book has sections dedicated to how colonization impacted Chugach Native communities within the region.

The book addresses the following periods: Early Explorers (1741-1794), The Early American Period-Exploration (1867-1898), The Gold Rush to World War I, 1917-1941 -- Between the Wars, 1942-1959: WWII to Statehood, Since Statehood: January 3rd, 1959.
