Alaska Native master boat builders, apprentices, and volunteers build eight traditional watercraft, capturing and sharing the knowledge of their ancestors and sharing the spirit of their people. The book examines traditional methods of transportation through the modern eyes and experieces of the crafters. A specific section of the book follows Nick Tanape (Sr) from Nanwalek and documents his experience constructing baidarkas.
