Describes the arts and crafts of the Eskimos, Athabascans, Aleuts, and Northwest Coast peoples of Alaska. Includes discussion of artifacts discovered at excavation sites. The first chapter consists mostly of the article "In search of ancient man: archaeology in Alaska" by Robert Shaw. The other chapters (all by Susan Fair) contain interspersed short sections by various authors.
