Kitaq (Saska) Goes Ice Fishing

This book tells the story of a young Yup'ik boy's first ice-fishing trip with his grandfather. Placed in western Alaska at te edge of the Kuskokwim River, the story incorporates the author's knowledge of traditional Yup'ik village life.

Kitaq is not yet six years old when his grandfather takes him ice fishing for the first time, carrying on a long-lived tradition among the Yupik people. Translated into Sugt'stun for young language learners.
