Weguaq or "Goosetongues."

"When I returned to the village in 1977 the summer smell was fried fresh fish (halibut, red salmon, tilpook...), fresh goosetongues sautéed in bacon grease, oh my goodness that flavor from the ocean with the natural salt was an amazing experience. Goosetongues is one of my favorite greens to harvest, they really pick up the flavor and the richness of the preferred grease and enhance the natural flavor of this green plant."

This plant can be sautéed in a grease of your choice (i.e. seal oil, bacon grease, butter, a bit of garlic, salt and pepper.) It can also be used as a medicinal plant along with other plants to make a salve. This salve can be used for scratches, insect bites, skin irritation, and even hemorrhoids.
