Deborah McMullen: People find them at home randomly, somebody will just spot one and they will use them for their set nets for fishing. They are not easy to find, but people do find them.
Deborah McMullen: The rocks are often found when making gravel roads so many people have these sinking rocks with the binding marks as they used them for set nets (names) which were held upright with bladders. Or also used to throw to catch birds.
John Johnson: Stones like this were also used for war. The design is interesting as it is wild to think that the J hooks went back to circle hooks as the halibut stay on longer.
